Medical MileStone: My first Pap Smear

As a part of my medical schools curriculum, We have a "Longitudinal Family Study". We are assigned to a pregnant mother and follow her throughout her pregnancy and postnatal period.  After we met with the mother and the doctor, we shadowed him in his office for about 2 hours. It was amazing. I learned so much about the work of an ob/gyn and an infertility specialist. But, the best part and whole purpose of this post is I got to perform my first pap smear. I was so nervous but so excited.

Pap Smear:

-A pap smear is a screening test for cervical cancer.
-Testing generally starts at age 21 and is repeated every three years

From my facebook status October 2nd, 2013:
Today was the most amazing day of my life!!!!! I was pretty happy when I found out my clinical placement was at the hospital near my house, and I almost did backflips when I saw the sign that the doctor I was placed with was an OB/GYN. I got to see the joy of families looking at an ultrasound . The M.D. taught me how to feel the position of a baby preparing for delivery. OMG it was so amazing I was almost about to cry tears of joy!!!! The physician was amazing and said I can come back and visit her at anytime and offered her help for anything needed. I can literally see her office from my front step, so she will be seeing me often! :)
